Recently had the opportunity to work with Sonoma lavender farm, http://www.sonomalavender.com/. They are situated right next to Chateau St. Jean, a wonderful wedding venue, in Sonoma, CA. The smell was amazing!

On the first day, I was there when it was raining/overcast. On the second day, it was nice and hot n sunny- which mean the honey bees were out in full force. I had totally forgotten about them on the previous rainy day. The lavender bushes were covered in hundreds of bees, but they paid little attention to me as I they were busy with the lavender. I managed to only get stung once the entire day, which was quite a feat considering how much time I spent with them, invading their space.

This is the very same lavender that I will be sending to friends and family! I hope you enjoy your bouquet.

Art, dance and music classes? Healthy lunches and coordinated outdoor recess activities? I didn’t know these elementary schools still existed in California. Thank God there are still healthy schools left.

One of the most fulfilling and fun assignments I’ve had in a while. Kids are an absolute joy to photograph. The self-consciousness insecurities that we adults have can sometimes make candid portraiture difficult.  It was a nice change to have my subjects beg me to have their picture.

I had an amazing assignment last week photographing at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. I documented the new exhibit opening this summer, “Snakes and Lizards: the Summer of Slither,” for the Marin Independent Journal.

I had a chance to photograph Dr. Chris Andrews, director of the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy of Sciences. He loves snakes. The bluish snake he’s holding is an Asian Rat Snake. The Red-Tailed Boa in the second picture is named “Balthazar” and was also a favorite of Dr. Andrews.

The electronic/mechanical snake is a prop on display that was used in Hollywood films, including Anaconda.. haha

Here is the article listed in its entirety. http://www.marinij.com/marinnews/ci_18002235?source=most_viewed
