My friend Dan lived with the O'connell's in New York around 2009-2012, as a full-time caregiver for their aging patriarch- Byron O'connell aka Mr. Driftwood (Mr. Driftwood is a Charlie Chaplin character and is a favorite of Dan's). I visited them several times to document Byron, who was in the latter stages of Alzheimer's disease. Byron lived in his family's home, with his wife and daughter, while his son operated the family tax business out of the home. Dan would often play the piano with Byron, and engage him as much as possible to keep his cognitive health from regressing. Byron passed away in 2013.
